Commodity Origins

Build your own commodity index

Pick two to five commodities, give each a weight, and see how that basket would have moved since a chosen month, rebased to 100. Each series is rebased on its own first, exactly as the price comparison tool does, then combined by weight. This is an illustrative calculation from published benchmark prices, not a real tradable index and not investment advice.

Example: equal-weighted wheat, copper and crude oil

Prices are monthly benchmark averages published by the World Bank (Pink Sheet) and the IMF; they lag the market and are for information only, not investment, legal or trade advice. A weighted basket of benchmark prices is not a tradable instrument and does not account for the cost of actually holding or rolling the underlying commodities.
